The Love of Bilaal for our Prophet
After the death of the best of creations and most beloved to Allaah, Prophet Muhammad.. Bilaal, RaDiyy Allaahu ^Anhu, couldn't stay in Madinah any longer because it reminded him of the days with the Prophet.
He couldn't handle knowing that he lives in the same city where his most beloved is buried. So he traveled to the area of Ash-Shaam; specifically to Syria. After some time, he had a dream of the Prophet. He woke up crying his eyes out. His wife asked him, “What makes you cry O Bilaal?”
He told her, “I saw the Prophet last night (in the dream), and the Prophet asked me, “Won't you visit me?”
That same day, Bilaal rode his animal and headed to Madinah. When he got to the grave, he threw himself on it and cried hard. He was welcomed by Abu Bakr and ^Umar.
They told him, “We miss your voice O Bilaal, won’t you make Adhaan for us one last time?”
He asked them to pardon him because it bothered him to make the Adhaan and the Prophet was not there.
Then the grandsons of the Prophet, who were still young, told him “We miss your voice Yaa Bilaal, won’t you make Adhaan for us?”
He cried and said, “How can I say ‘no’ to you? I'm afraid if I reject you, your grandfather will reject me on The Day of Judgement.”
So he climbed the minaret and began to call the Adhaan.
When he said “Allaahu ‘Akbar, Allaahu ‘Akbar” the city shook. When he said “Allaahu ‘Akbar, Allaahu ‘Akbar” a second time, it shook more.
When he said, “Ash-hadu allaa ilaaha illallaah” the people came out of their homes. When he said “Ash-hadu allaa ilaaha illallaah” again, the women who normally don’t come out of their homes ran out screaming “Has the Prophet been resurrected?” crying and frantic.
When he got to the part “Ash-hadu anna MuHammadar-Rasoulullaah” he said Rasoulullaah in a faint voice and couldn't continue his Adhaan anymore. It overwhelmed Bilaal’s heart that his most beloved was no longer there.
